Charlitta Hatch is a proud graduate of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and a lifelong product of the community she now seeks to serve. From walking the halls of local schools as a student to now walking them as a parent and advocate, Charlitta’s journey is rooted in a deep understanding of our city’s history, its promise, and its challenges. She’s a first-generation college graduate who went on to earn degrees in business and education. She is proof of what’s possible when families, schools, and communities work together.
Charlitta is married to her high-school sweetheart, Mark. Together they parent their 2 children, CMS 3rd grader, Mark III (8) and pre-schooler, Amelia (4). For nearly a decade she has been focused on uplifting children and families through storytelling and advocacy. She is a 3x children’s book author, elevating stories of representation and identity. Her lived experience as a mother navigating school choice, special programs, and parent-teacher dynamics fuels her passion to ensure every family’s voice is heard. Her doctoral research in Urban Education centers the experiences of Black mothers and affirms what she already knows firsthand: families aren’t just stakeholders. They are co-creators in student success. Charlitta’s approach to leadership is grounded in listening, building trust, and strengthening partnerships between schools and the people they serve.
Charlitta’s undergraduate degree is in business management from Hampton University. She is pursuing her Ph.D with a certificate in Qualitative Research and Social Systems Transformation at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she also received her Master’s. She is an adjunct professor and teaches History of Racism and Psychology of the Black Experience. Charlitta is certified as an OpenText Extended ECM for SAP SuccessFactors Cloud Learning practitioner, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, SAFe5 Agilist, and a DiSC certified trainer.
